"Dont ruin it, please!!"

Breaking my cherry and finally submitting to this whole blog thing. Its been a long time coming and I hope I can put up my art and animation on this thing. In the meantime tho, just wanted to talk video games. I am a passionate player when i do have spare time (meaning if something grabs my attention, it holds it till i got it licked).

I got the wii and although it is a novelty, it is a necessary novelty. Its actually going to force the industry to expand, which in anything is a key to survival. I wish the comic book industry had that mentality 15 years ago; maybe it wouldn't be in bad a shape as it's in. I am currently enthralled with a game called "Guitar Hero 2" and having tons of fun with it. I'm really looking for that difference; stuff that's inspiring and really bringing something new to the table. I found even tho Guitar hero 2 is gimmicky (it has to be played with the guitar controller or loses its luster) I'm having fun with it. Even tho Zelda was the same game done so many times but incarnated on the wii, the gimmick of the wii controller gave it a fresh spin and really made it fun. The possibilities for that system, if one of the game developers would give a dam and actually put there blood, sweat and tears into a game on the wii, are endless.

Nintendo seems to be the only one trying to push the envelope on that system; playing the ps3 and 360 really seems like the ps2 and xbox, only with souped up graphics. And even alot of the games graphics are "whatever". I think Ive been spoiled by computer graphics cause you see the possibilities (like in the movie final fantasy 7) and there there in the cut scenes, but come in game time they crap out for obvious reasons. (And even some cut scenes are shit). Honestly, i cant justify the ps3 or 360; gears of war aside. Ps2 tho; I mean i will take god of war 2 and guitar hero 2 over anything in the ps3 library right now. And I know I'm gonna take alot of shit for saying this but honestly, metal gear solid 4 looks really dumb. I honestly think Kojima has lost it...too many weird sci-fi movies. Part 2 sucked balls and part 3 tried to steer it right, but its getting ridiculous. Sequels, without freshness, kills anything.
I don't care if its a gimmick added, as long as its something DIFFERENT! Now I am a huge Simpson's fan. I know they're not at there best and haven't been for a while. I did have alot of fun playing through my copy of hit and run for ps2. It actually held a Simpson flavor akin to the old days. I had heard terrible news tho that EA, distributors of all things sweatshop, obtained the rights to the Simpson's license. Like everyone I cringed. I just hope, honestly the dont ruin it. Please, for the love of god don't "road rage" it. Now, you can see the game in action at gametrailers.com. The animation actually looks really nice (Specially when homer goes all blimp and rolls around; nice secondary ani. on the arms and head!). And one intriguing question was asked, according to IGN.com. They asked if the Simpson's original arcade game would be an unlockable and apparently the director smiled and said "no comment". I sure hope it is! I loved that game, old school. Got it through mame too ; but if this game is good AND it has that unlockable, count me sooo in! God, please give EA a visit from the gaming gods to make a good game from this.....Just some random thoughts for me first blog. Next blog; I'm gonna tell you why spidey 3 sucked balls......
